Favorite Land at Epic Universe

Epic Universe has been such a great addition to the Orlando theme park market. The number of theme parks is a big reason why I moved down to Orlando five years ago, and lucky me, I was living here when they opened the first major theme park in 20 years. They have five distinct worlds with their own character and attractions. They are all well themed and most of them have great food. Picking my favorite land at Epic Universe is picking between my nonexistent kids.

Before I get to my favorite, I want to give each individual land its flowers.

Darkmoor is an incredibly immersive land with the BEST attraction in Orlando with Monsters Unchained. A top ride that is typically a walk on, I absolutely love this attraction.

Harry Potter France is one of the weaker lands for me. Just a preference as I don’t love the ride, and the show is not the best one in the park. I think it is still themed well, and it is easy to feel immersed in this land, teleports you out of the theme park setting.

Super Nintendo World is so bright with some decent rides to it. You never run out of stuff to look at. Don’t eat the food and beverage.

Celestial Park is the glue that holds the park together. It has plenty of good food items, good restaurants and one of the best attractions in Orlando with Stardust Racers. Pizza Moon and Stardust are the two things I have done in that land on every visit.

The best world for me is the Isle of Berk. I think it is the most well rounded, delivering great experiences throughout the land, and the theming is the best at the park. It doesn’t matter if it is day or night, this world is full of character. There are several character moments scattered about. I have seen the two twins, Astrid and her dragon, the blacksmith, the baby dragon, of course, Hiccup and Toothless and I hear they have been testing dragon drones to fly around the sky. There is so much detail, and just so much to look at that I have spent a lot of time in this area but still miss details I’m sure. The little sheep and baby dragons littered throughout the land are really cute, I love the ones that are fighting over the fish especially, a great call back to the film. The ice dragon by the bathrooms, the sleeping dragon animatronic in the blacksmith area, the never working but is awesome if it is working, Cloudjumper above the gift shop. There is also a fun interactive area for the kids, I haven’t been in there personally, but I used to spend a majority of my days in Camp Jurassic when I was younger. This kiddo area doesn’t seem as nice. The statues when you first walk in is the best part, theming wise. Attraction-wise there are the two flat rides are nothing special, but they do have their intrigue, like trying to flip on Dragon’s Racer Rally, or trying to soak other people on Fyre Drill. In a park that lacks capacity, I am glad that these rides do exist to eat a few people. The queues are just covered walkways with light theming painted on walls next to the queue. The E-ticket in the land is Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, the room that you walk through first to enter the line is the best part of the queue, but it sadly doesn’t last long until you are into a lightly themed outdoor wait. The attraction is great, it is low to the ground, fun, and a great way to work up to Stardust. This does a great job with theming, the final little run after the second launch when the theme is blasting is amazing. The Toothless animatronic is very cool as well as he interacts with the environment to launch you. The way this attraction runs through the land is also great, on ride, and off. It is a baby Hagrid coaster with a few launches and good theming. The Untrainable Dragon show is a great show to watch during a hot day. The moment when Toothless comes down from the sky can’t be beat. The Toothless meet and greet is a HUGE draw. It was the coolest meet and greet I have ever done; you get to touch a dragon. Very cool. The line for this is long, the interaction lasts a about as minute, as you are welcomed, everyone in the party talks to Toothless, and then you take a picture. It is a fun one time thing for locals but a really fun addition to the land. The dining is the best of the individual lands other than Celestial Park. The beef bowls were good when I had them, better than most theme park food. The Mac and Cheese cones were amazing, but the price has gotten a bit too extreme for me as they are incredibly popular. The Mead Hall is the weenie of the land, it can be seen throughout the park and walking from the parking lot. The center of the land. The theming is fun on the inside, it looks just like the movie but the food…. On-par with the rest of the Universal theme parks. Epic Universe has done a great job elevating what a good theme park meal is, but with the Mead Hall, not so much.

Overall, this land is a well-rounded great time for all ages. There is something for everybody. It is teeming with attractions, and theming. Something Darkmoor can learn about.
