Defunct attractions made better
I made a blog about the defunct attractions that I miss dearly but some of the changes to the rides are fantastic. The last list was extremely long compared to this list.
Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure- Dueling Dragons appeared on my previous list but I just cant keep this off. This attraction is one of the best rides in the world with top notch theming and a good level of thrill. I miss Dueling Dragons but this replacement is one of the best rides ever.
New Fantasyland- This took out the old Toontown fair which I used to enjoy as a kid. I have plenty of pictures of me running around there and in Mickey’s House. We got Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Be Our Guest restaurant, an interactive Belle experience, a Little Mermaid dark ride, Storybook Circus and a few meet and greets. I love the Little Mermaid dark ride. The Magic Kingdom took the axe to a couple of them, so it was nice to get an updated version of a dark ride. I miss the ones of old, but this one is still fun to ride, and usually, a short wait.
Pandora- From a meet and greet area and Festival of the Lion King’s OLD theater to an amazingly detailed, immersive land. One of the best conversions I can think of.
Cosmic Rewind- Ellen’s Energy Adventure was a snoozefest and an attraction that needed to go. This roller coaster is once again, one of the best rides in the world. It is so much fun and it was a great addition to Epcot.
Soarin Around the World- I love riding around in the commercial for Adventures by Disney. I like both attraction, but I like seeing the amazing sights around the world. Especially now that the Eiffel Tower doesn’t look as messed up.
Frozen Sing Along- That American Idol experience was rough. I thought this new version is cute, I don’t go to it very much but it is a funny show at points.
Steakhouse 71- This is a curveball on this list. This was a new addition to the Contemporary dining options and it is DELICIOUS. It replaced the Wave which was a restaurant that had its ups and downs but Steakhouse 71 is close to my favorite restaurant on property.
Aloha Isle- I wanted to add another curveball. Dole Whips have become extremely popular and Adventureland is already full of bottlenecks, so a larger location, and more lines to get my Dole Whip is great.
Diagon Alley- Objectively, I want to add this on the list. Gringotts is just a weaker attraction for me. Honorable mention.
I want to put Galaxy’s Edge on this list. I just can’t. The Osborne Family Lights, Lights Motor Action, the Backlot Tour. I am an official Galaxy Edge hater. I like Rise of the Resistance, but it is in disrepair ALREADY that I just don’t get on it often. I don’t enter Hollywood Studios hardly at all anymore. Smuggler’s Run just isn’t very fun. Very cool queue, very cool ride vehicle. I wish it was just a walk-through attraction in the Launch Bay.
