Building a Business While Taking School Classes: Chapter 8/24/25

8/24/25

This is the second week of school and the potential bounce back week. I have been distracted a bit from this venture due to the deadlines of school being added to my normal day. I don’t have huge confidence in my ability to focus and get everything done this week due to me fighting with school and also visiting my hometown later in the week. The first couple of days in the week didn’t go amazing. I did get a chance to post a blog and now am working on the next ones, but homework has taken a backseat now. No deadlines for a couple of weeks and I will SLACK.

The main goal is to finish up blogs and hopefully get some final payments from my clients on a group cruise. I am going to guess I have to process 13 payments out of 14 rooms on the final day or two. Not giving me much room if things go wrong. This happened during the deposit stage, and it just added much more stress than necessary. I can’t imagine just waiting until the last minute on everything. I used to do it all the time, but now I am a brand-new man. Where I try to get AHEAD. I know me a couple of years ago would be SHOCKED. I wrote so much on a couple new blogs and then my computer shut down, so I lost all my progress. That was fun.

Payments have slowly started and now I have a few more to go. It isn’t quite going to be the huge hit that I expected.

With school in full swing with a test in the next few days, I still haven’t hit my stride in doing homework and studying. My to do list is stacking up and I feel like even my financials have not been as great either. My work is still slow for the time being, but it will be heating back up next week which includes a small two-day turnaround trip to my hometown that includes a six-hour drive with a dog that I have not taken on a long trip yet.  We will see how that goes.

One new development is something very fun and could end up being beneficial for my business. I got offered an educational experience to Sandals Nassau for a travel agent only trip. I have never really sold all-inclusive resorts so this will be a good learning experience for me. I am also going on an all-inclusive cruise to Nassau and the Royal Caribbean private island the week before. It will be fun to compare and contrast the two all-inclusive experiences. I have always enjoyed cruising and airports plus planes just add to the cost so I would say I am open minded, but I might have a little bias towards cruising. I also have been known to skip Nassau and just stay on the cruise ship so it will be interesting to actually go to Nassau as the destination instead of the cruise ship being the destination. I am going to have to watch all of the White Lotus seasons to prepare me for an all-inclusive vacation. I am excited for this experience and can’t wait to go on my first business trip for the travel company and for me. They are apparently sending a car for me and giving me a new look at the newly renovated all-inclusive. I’m excited. A little scared. But excited.

These two vacations start the three months of plenty of vacations. Three cruises and now an all-inclusive resort. Also, it is football season. Also school season. This will lead to a busy few months for me.

The final counts for the week were 344 minutes. A little below six hours but it feels great to get back to a decent baseline. If I can stay above five hours each week, I will be happy.

I also need to push the microphone out and maybe even start YouTube videos. Maybe look for a secondhand camera. Help out my business while lowering my tax liability. I will have to do a little research because I do want to help out my travel agency with quality pictures and quality content. I just look at my funds and they look a little low. I am about to get a group cruise commission soon so that should be put into better content production. I think this needs to be a later add. Phone for everything right now.

Here is to keeping consistency into next week. The first test of the fall semester and football season starts.
