This Month in Money June
This was the month I was worried about. I was paying $2000 in rent alone, my largest total ever so far in my young life. This is about $700 higher than my total housing payment for a regular month. This was going to be a difficult month to keep my head above water.
This was the second month in a row where I was running at a deficit. Pulling from my emergency fund is never fun but it was once again needed to keep my head above the water. $176.40 is the deficit for the month. If I was able to get some of my travel agent income I could have been able to really save some money, but it has been delayed until July. This month will be a big one. I will have plenty of commission to go around and hopefully make enough to cover my monthly deficits. Maybe even finally start to put money back into my main investment pool, the Roth IRA. $5,000 left for the tax year but I still have so many things to save for. With my whining and wishfulness finally being over, let’s get into the month.
As I said earlier, I paid over $2000 in housing expenses this month. A total number of $2051.34 which is $700 more than my usual. This will go back down to $1300 next month so I should be fine.
Entertainment was another chunk of my income where I didn’t have much restraint spending $432.05 in the category. It didn’t even feel like much either. I don’t remember anything huge in the month.
A weekly gas fill up is needed for my new commute. These weekly purchases added up to $160.44 for the month. Tolls were a flat $50 which isn’t bad for the driving I do. Unfortunately, due to the size of the commute I think I will have more vehicle maintenance like an oil change next month. I hope my car drives for a few thousand more miles before I need to sell it. The value is decreasing by the day.
Walmart was a huge expense for the month. Mostly groceries but once again a couple hundred dollars towards miscellaneous items around the house. It is unreal how much stuff you need to buy just to remain a stable household. Of course, there were some wants involved like new bike equipment but who knew bug spray just wasn’t permanently stocked in the garage. Where is my mom’s van when I need it, she always had bug spray. It has been an up and down month. Too many things to get to a normal way. Now we just keep adding more and more crap to the garage. We could move with one small Uhaul last move but now, we are going to need a double decker bus.
