Epic universe what I am most excited for
At the time of writing this, Epic Universe is set to open in a little over 6 months. This will be the first full theme park opening I will be able to visit, and I am super excited about that. The last two Central Florida theme park openings (not counting Volcano Bay) I was a toddler. Will I go on opening day? I’m not sure. This theme park will be nuts for the foreseeable future, so I haven’t decided if I want to fight the crowds for this historic event. I could go later in the day and walk around. I probably won’t ride any rides if I had to guess. I might not ride any rides for the first month. As a spoiled local, I can get away with doing this.
I usually go in the morning or at night for lower wait times but unfortunately, with Epic Universe, I don’t think that will be the case. At least for a while, people will be opening and closing the park. It’s something new added to people’s lives. There is a Raising Canes restaurant that opened next to where I live, and for the first month, every time you passed by, the line was wrapped around the building. And that was for a chicken fast-food restaurant. This is the first major theme park opening in Central FL in more than 20 years. Couple that with the hype this park is getting and there’s no secret that crowds will be extremely heavy.
Once again, as a spoiled local I don’t think I will be riding many rides in the opening days. With that being said, there is one ride that does have me more excited than the rest and could have me waiting in a two-hour line.
In the back of the park, Dark Universe based on the classic Universal monsters will be home to two attractions: the Curse of the Werewolf, and Monsters Unchained: the Frankenstein Experiment. I am more excited for the latter. The monsters are a classic staple of Universal. It was their claim to fame, and the monsters are shown love throughout the park’s history. Some of those nods have disappeared but today, they still show up in the parks. I love The Mummy, which is based on the remake of the Mummy character. I love the Horror Makeup show at Universal Studios. I love MOST of the Universal Monster HHN houses. I have also really gotten excited about the Monster’s Unchained ride. The theming in the land looks top-notch and it continues into this ride. It shares a ride system with Forbidden Journey which I am hoping shares the same amount of capacity because Forbidden Journey is a people eater. It makes the line move quicker. The concept art looks amazing, and the teaser videos have leaned on the idea that this will be the scariest ride Universal has created. I love it when rides are scary. It is my largest issue with the newer Disney rides; they just don’t have stakes. Nothing happens. I want to feel a part of the story, get nervous at times, get excited at times and I think this ride will be one of the rides that can provide that. I have been lucky enough to have ridden almost all theme park attractions in Central Florida and only a few make me nervous. With the Harry Potter ride and the Monsters ride at Epic Universe, I feel like stakes will be evident. Universal also JUST released a teaser on the animatronics used in the Monsters attraction, and wow. These look incredible. Fluid motions and faces that are lifelike. This will be an incredible ride top to bottom and I can’t wait for it.
