Necessary Evil Expenses

This is on top of mind as I had to pay to drive my vehicle and I had to pay to just work. Taxes and car insurance in the same month/week had me sick to my stomach.
The tax man has to get their money, and they got it from me. I don’t make much money, so even the slightest amount of money I can get hurt by, but we will break down Uncle Sam’s cut.
Starting with state taxes because it is the easiest. Living in the sunshine state of Florida means my state taxes will be $0.
Sadly, the money starts to hit me now. Federal income tax was $2531.09 for the year. It comes out to be about $100 taken from my paycheck.
Social security tax is $2427.56 which is about $100 a paycheck as well.
Medicare tax is another $567.74 for the year.
To round this number up even higher, I had to pay another $1738 to the IRS for them to get off my back.
This brings my total to $7264.39 for the year after all the taxes hit my account. Seeing that full number really hurts me with the amount of money I make which isn’t a lot and I had over a full Roth IRA yearly amount taken from me. Knowing how long it took me to finally max out my Roth IRA it is a tough pill to swallow.
I also had to pay to have my taxes filed due to the type of income I had to claim so it made my bill even higher.
Taxes are just a necessary evil to live your life. Let’s continue on to other necessary evils that we have to do just to live.
Car insurance is one of the most annoying things to pay. This is a necessity to drive, and they love to take your money but when I had to bring car insurance into a claim, they didn’t want to give me as much money. It is a thing we have to do though. I had to pay $1021 for a 6-month policy here in Florida.
I switched last year due to it being so much cheaper and I got a rate of about $800 for the six-month policy. Also used a car plug in to lower my rate even more. I saved $170 for the next period! I was a four-star driver which only included hard brakes, which is unfortunate because it is either hard brakes or slam into the back of a vehicle that just pulled out in front of me. I thought $630 would be fine, I should have gotten better but it’s still fine. Until I got the bill of $1021 with a “discount” of $170.
Look at all that money I saved.
Rant over.
