August Training
This month I took a turn to getting things done. I have walked and ran and put exercise into a regular occurrence. Ran so much that my Apple Watch died on a lot of these runs so some didn’t count but here are my counts for the ones that were recorded.
8/12/24 5.5 miles. 1:24:53. Total. 15:25 pace
8/14/24. 1.99 miles. 31:49. Total. 15:51 pace
8/18/24. 6.0 miles. 1:35:44. Total. 15:56 pace
8/23/24. 1.34 miles 22:48. Total. 17:01 pace
8/24/24. 7.0. miles 1:52:21. Total. 16:02 pace
8/26/24. 2.08 miles. 34:41. Total. 16:38 pace
8/27/24. 2.07 miles. 37:08. Total. 17:54 pace
8/28/24. 2.1 miles. 34:28. Total. 16:24 pace
8/29/24. 1.9 miles. 32:05. Total. 16:56 pace
Nine runs on the month with four runs in a row. Not the correct way to go about it, according to the training plan but I was fighting anxiety a lot this month. My mileage increased and I had some very enjoyable runs. I ran in downtown St. Augustine, passing all the historic sites as I pushed myself to a record distance of six miles. I felt fine. Probably could have fueled my body better, I had only eaten a small snack beforehand with only a little water but not nearly enough. I felt fine after though. No issues.
The 7-mile run was a bit different. I didn’t eat much the night before and I didn’t eat much the day of. I felt fine during the run. Pushed myself and it felt great. Unfortunately, the aftermath was less great. I struggled a lot, was exhausted, sore, and had a huge headache. If I don’t get proper nutrition for race day my run could end very badly. Overall, a solid month but I need to lock in nutrition. I’m continuing to push myself increasing mileage and dropping weight. I am now down 17 pounds from where I started. I want to kick 17 more.
